The School Board plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school鈥檚 priorities reflect the needs of the students and are aligned with the Business Plan.

The 韩国AV Board is comprised of 7 community members and 4 staff representatives plus the School Principal.

The School Board participates in:

  • Establishing and reviewing the school鈥檚 objectives, priorities, and general policy directions
  • Financial planning to ensure priorities and plans are supported
  • Evaluating the school performance in achieving objectives, priorities and directions articulated in the Business Plan
  • Formulating codes of conduct for students
  • Promoting the school in the community
  • Determining the dress code for students
  • Providing feedback for policy development
  • Endorsing the Annual Report
  • Approving the School budget
  • Contributions, Fees and Charges including extra cost optional components for selected programs
  • Items for personal use (Booklists)
  • Out of Hours School Care Contracts
  • School Development Day dates

As stated in the 2021 Public School Review Report:

Ashish Sharma

Board Chair

My name is Ashish Sharma, and I am honoured to serve as a member of our school board. As a parent, with a daughter currently in school, I deeply value the importance of quality education and the role it plays in shaping the future of our children. With my background in biomedical engineering, I am committed to fostering a learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members, teachers, staff, and the community to support our students and ensure that our schools provide the best educational experience possible.

Darren Lacquiere

Darren Lacquiere serves as a parent board member who is dedicated to building a collaborative learning environment for all students. With a business degree and a professional background in technology, governance, and risk management, Darren brings a thoughtful, strategic perspective to the role. As a long-standing member of the community and parent of two children attending the school, Darren's commitment on the Board is to support the school's vision as well as decision-making that benefits all current and future students.

Li-San Poon

Elected Parent Member

I am a mum of two children, (Kindy and year 2) and I am currently working part-time as a phone consultant in the insurance industry with previous experience working in the engineering, accounting and banking industries. I've been in this position for the last nine years and skilled in value-based communication and assisting customers experiencing vulnerability.

As a parent of a neurodivergent child, I have a personal interest in mental health and support diversity, equity and inclusion. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a parent representative on the School Board, where I come with an open mind to learn and grow from others and to share my knowledge and experience too.

Grace Yeung

I am a Manager of Accounting and Finance in the social and disability sector. With years of experience in the healthcare industry, manufacturing, and public practice, I am
passionate about helping individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals.

I have a young daughter and in my spare time I enjoy sewing, camping and volunteering with her daughter.

Shereen Kaur

I am a proud mom of two amazing daughters who are currently in Year 2 and Year 6! I鈥檓 super excited to be part of the 韩国AV Board, where I get to advocate for educational excellence and community development. With a background in education and management, I truly believe every child deserves a fun, high-quality education that sets them up for success in this ever-evolving world. I can鈥檛 wait to help our school continue to grow and thrive, and to make a positive impact on the future of our incredible students!

Anish Raman

I am an experienced educator that has worked in a range of educational environments including remote and regional settings. I have previously served a total of five years on school boards at various schools. I joined 韩国AV in 2023 and am currently teaching Year 5/6. 韩国AV has a warm and welcoming community with supportive families and committed staff and Administration. It is a privilege to continue to serve on the 韩国AV board and I hope to contribute to its continual success.

Sally Sturgess

I have been a dedicated member of 韩国AV for 14 years. Throughout those years I have predominantly taught Pre-primary, and I love to see young students thrive and grow as they embark on their new learning journeys. I am passionate about sharing stories with my students, fostering a love of books and sparking their imaginations through reading. I also enjoy working in the school鈥檚 kitchen garden, where I help children understand the importance of nature and sustainability. Outside of work I love animals, the beach, riding my bike, and getting off the beaten track while I鈥檓 exploring new places around Australia.

Marlini Nadesan

I have South African and Australian teaching experience and joined 韩国AV in 2013. I am a passionate and dedicated educator who aims to bring out the best in students by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. I deeply value the unique backgrounds and experiences of each student. Travel is one of my greatest passions, especially when it involves discovering new cultures through their food and traditions which continue to inform and inspire my teaching practice. I look forward to working collaboratively with the school board to ensure 韩国AV Primary continues to grow and meet the evolving needs of our school community.
